The company caught the attention of one of its suppliers. Discussion begun in 2017 for a potential buy over of the company. Treknology Bikes 3 Private Limited finalised the process in end 2017. This begins the company’s venture into the e-commerce business. SP5 soon became the E-Commerce Arm of the company. Integrating SP5’s SOP’s within Treknology3 proved to be a good strategy, combining Treknology3’s retail experience of over 30 years with SpeedOn5.com enabled the company to utilize the fully integrated warehouse and logistics capabilities at the main Head Quarters at 14 Jalan Kilang Barat.
Speedon5.com core business was accessories and components, complete bike sales were specific to Treknology3’s brick and mortar stores.
Covid Happened. This is a turning point for the company.
Businesses were ordered to shut down due to the circuit breakers but the demand for cycling skyrocketed during the period.
When adversity strikes, the business had to think fast. Bicycle Shops were deemed as essential business, however only the service center was allowed to be operational with very restricted access.
The company then decided to relaunch speedon5.com to include bike sales to meet the demands of the consumer amidst the turbulent times. Within 48 hours, the new website was launched.
With a heightened awareness of consumer’s needs, the e-commerce team sets forth a task of interacting with consumers to get a bike that best suits their cycling needs, style, and goals. Ensuring that the consumer gets a bike that fits them properly and discussing options like accessories to further improve the riding experience.
